Popular Motherwell pub put up for sale

A popular Motherwell pub has been put up for sale after 50 years.

The Woodcutter Bar in Merry Street celebrated its 50th birthday last weekend with a huge bash which seen many locals turn out to celebrate.

But the news comes of its sale comes as a shock to many as the bar has been under the same family ownership for over 50 years.

Trading as a local’s pub, The Woodcutter is best known for its karaoke bar and lively atmosphere, providing live entertainment four nights of the week, and also attracts office and work parties from the town centre.

The pub, which currently trades under management, would be ideally suited to a regional operator or alternatively someone entering the licensed trade for the first time.

Brian Sheldon, Regional Director at Christie & Co’s Glasgow Office who is handling the sale said:  “The Woodcutter is a long established public house within the town and will be of interest to many buyers.

“Due to a bereavement within the family the public house has been made available for sale, otherwise I’m sure the business would remain within the family as it is a well located and highly regarded establishment at the heart of the community.”

Woodcutter Bar is on the market at offers invited for the freehold going concern.
