Popular Mansfield convenience store given new lease of life after sudden closure

A well-used Mansfield convenience store has been given a lease of life after it suddenly closed weeks before lockdown.

The former Nisa and Bargain Booze, on Pecks Hill, shut up shop in February due to "unforeseen circumstances" and left management firm Parfetts seeking a sale as Covid-19 restrictions came into effect.

However, the store - described by estate agents as having "great potential" - received 14 offers after it went up for sale during lockdown and it has since found new operators.

Christie & Co, which managed the sale of the store, says the successful buyer was local Costcutter operator who operates a store close to Pecks Hill.

According to the company, the new owner plans to extend the store as well as its residential premises - with the hope of reopening in early 2021.

David Morris, director of Christie & Co's retail team, said: "Despite launching the store to market during the height of Covid-19 lockdown we received significant interest that included 14 offers.

"The store has great potential and retailers identified this very quickly.

"We were able to complete the sale in a very short time frame, launching to market mid-May and completing in mid-August, which demonstrates that the demand for convenience stores has increased due to the support they have given local communities during the pandemic."

David Grimes, managing director of Parfetts, which previously owned the business, added: "After taking the decision to close the store due to unforeseen circumstances, we were keen to achieve a sale promptly, but were unsure if this was possible due to the COVID 19 lockdown period. We are delighted with the result."
