Popular Liverpool kids discovery centre Imagine That reopens with bright new makeover

A popular Liverpool kids discovery play centre has had a bright new makeover ahead of opening up fully when restrictions are lifted.

Imagine That on Wavertree Technology Park moved to the industrial estate from its former site, Underwater Street, in Liverpool city centre in January 2017 due to growing demand.

The science and discovery centre offers amazing activities, shows and attractions in four unique zones which have had a revamp for when the centre fully reopens on July 21. It is only currently open Friday, Saturday and Sunday due to coronavirus restrictions.

Owner Jeff Wallace told the ECHO: "We've been doing a few toddler mornings and school visits but we've had lots of cancellations due to pupils isolating.

"We thought while we had the chance we would have a revamp ready for the summer holidays. All the staff are glad to be back and we can't wait to welcome more families over the summer."

The centre like many other indoor family attractions has been closed throughout the various lockdowns and the restrictions meant the team had to change the way they operate which Jeff believes has worked to their advantage and has decided to make permanent.

He said: "Before it was a bit chaotic but now we offer a three-hour guided journey through all four zones of Imagine That. Each small group has their own guide and the slots are every 45 minutes so families can the best experience."

The centre welcomes children under 11 to explore the various activities including ArtBeatz, Bright Sparks, Water Play and the outdoor space which is currently has a dinosaur theme.

Jeff added that they also have more exciting activities including digital graffiti art green screen experience which can be printed to take home as a souvenir.

He said: "We've also got spin art, where you sit on a bike and pedal to make funky designs. We've also got a music wall and outside the kids can do fossil rubbing and dig for dinosaur bones.

"In the science area, we've got an interactive wall, water play, science experiments including a making snow workshop. We've also got a slime factory where the kids can make their own slime and bath bombs, they smell lovely!

"The new booking system means the experience is a lot calmer and we have a limited number of people at one time so it's safer too."
