Popular lido forced to close after being targeted by vandals

A popular family attraction has been forced to close after being targeted by vandals.

The Blackpill lido on Swansea seafront had to be drained of water, thoroughly cleaned and checked for damage after the weekend's attack.

It is understood a number of glass bottles were smashed and dumped in and around lido during the incident.

The damage was discovered on Saturday morning, and the site immediately closed to the public.

Swansea Council staff spent the weekend at the site cleaning up the mess, and checking for damage.

The lido is likely to remain off-limits until the middle of the week.

A council spokesman said: "Unfortunately Blackpill lido had to close on Saturday morning following some overnight vandalism.

"We are assessing the situation and have drained the pool as a precaution to check for damage.

"We are anticipating the lido will reopen by midweek."
