Popular Leith café announces it is closing its doors later this month

A much-loved Leith cafe is set to close its doors for the last time later this month.

Finn and Bear, at the Shore, has become a popular spot since its launch in 2018, serving everything from bacon topped burgers to nacho hot dogs.

Brought to Edinburgh foodies by the couple behind The Pantry in Stockbridge, Charlotte and Chris Thompson, Finn and Bear certainly had a reputation to live up to.

While it succeeded in that, the pair have announced that the café, which is named after their two sons, will close for personal reasons, as they seek to find a better "work-life balance".

In a statement Finn and Bear said: "We will be closing the doors at Finn and Bear for the last time on 24th March 2020. We would like to thank all our wonderful customers and staff for making these last two years so enjoyable.

"After reflection, and way before the onset of the coronavirus, we had decided to focus on ou events business and becoming better at established a work-life balance.

"After naming this place after our two boys, it is so important that we remember why we are here and missing out on so much of their childhood working anti-social hours wasn't working for us any longer.

"We are wishing the new owners the very best of luck when they open.

"We leave with great memories and an excitement for what the future holds."

Loyal customers expressed their sadness to the news, with one person saying: "Our lunch spot. Very sad."

"Awww I love this place", added another saddened local.
