Popular Kilmarnock restaurant temporarily closes after gas leak

A popular Kilmarnock restaurant remains closed today after discovering a gas leak.

The Jewel in the Crown reported last night that they would be closed "until further notice".

The Portland Street Indian restaurant updated diners today saying that they will remain closed but are hopeful of opening tomorrow - Thursday, July 5.

A post on their Facebook on Tuesday night read: "Due to a gas leak we will be closed until further notice. Emergency man is onsite now, as soon as we reopen we will let u know."

And again this morning: "We will unfortunately remain closed today. The safety of our staff and customers is priority.

"Essential work will be carried out today and will open back up for business tomorrow Thursday, July 4."
