A popular Kilmarnock takeaway has implemented a Covid closure after a staff member tested positive for the virus.
Tasty chippy The Plaice To Be told customers today that it will be closed for the rest of the week, including this full weekend.
The Stoneyhill Avenue eaterie first alerted locals to potential issues yesterday on its Facebook page when it pulled down the shutters temporarily as two staff awaited test results.
In an update this afternoon, the venue confirmed a staff member had contracted Covid and a longer closure would be necessary to prevent a wider spread.
Posting on The Plaice To Be Facebook page, the message reads: "One of our staff members have tested positive for Covid so I have taken the decision to close due to a variety of reasons!
"We will reopen next week. I’m awaiting further guidance but we will definitely be closed all weekend.
"The last thing I need, but I have to do everything I can to stop the spread to all staff members. Sorry for any inconvenience, we will be back soon!"
The chippy's approach has gone down well with punters who praised the chippy's 'responsible' approach while wishing staff members well.
In today's Covid update, a further 5,810 cases were confirmed across Scotland with another 17 lives sadly lost to the disease.
A total of 419 new cases were reported in Ayrshire. Broken down, 173 were in North Ayrshire, 153 in East Ayrshire and 93 in South Ayrshire.
