Popular high street chain to close Leeds city centre shop

It has not been a good year for retail and unfortunately we have news of another shop closure in Leeds city centre.

High street footwear chain Shoe Zone will be closing their branch in the Merrion Centre soon. It follows news from the summer that the company was looking to close 20 of its UK shops.

As we’ve seen in many cases, the coronavirus pandemic is being blamed for accelerating the problems the company has encountered. Visitors to the store in the Merrion Centre will be greeted with signs which state ‘sorry we are closing down’.

While, customers can get discounts on some of the products in the shop.

Thankfully, a number of Shoe Zone shops will be remaining open in Leeds city centre and across the region.

This year, we’ve sadly seen many shops and restaurants close in Leeds city centre.

There was the recent closure of Zara Home as well as Timberland, Thorntons, Monsoon and others earlier in the year.
