Popular hairdryer sold across Ireland urgently recalled amid fears it could go on fire

A leading hairdryer which has been sold across Ireland has been urgently recalled by manufacturers - as they could easily go on fire.

The alert came from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) on Tuesday morning and is in relation to the Blow Out Infrared Hairdryer from Voduz.

There are major concerns about faults in the hairdryer which increases the risk that it goes on fire.

The Voduz hairdryer which is affected (CCPC)

About 1000 products are subject to the recall, with customers being urged to stop using the product.

The brand is Voduz. The model number JB3509A. The batch number is unmarked.

The affected products were manufactured from 2019 to 2021.

Voduz are offering a replacement to anyone who has bough the Blow Out Infrared Hairdryer and is affected by the recall notice.

Voduz have set up an online form for customers to fill out to arrange collection of the product. The form can be found on the Voduz website.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is the statutory body responsible for promoting compliance with, and enforcing, competition and consumer protection law in Ireland.

Sometimes a manufacturer or distributor will discover a fault in a product or in a batch of products. If they think the product is unsafe, they are legally required to stop selling it.

They may also ask consumers to return the product to them for repair, or provide a replacement or refund. This is known as a product recall.
