Popular Glasgow west end cake shop closing down as customers react to 'sad news'

A much-loved cake shop in Glasgow's west end has announced its surprise closure, with customers left gutted by the 'sad news'.

Three Sisters Bake's Cake Bar has become a hugely popular fixture on Great Western Road, serving up incredible sweet treats, ice creams and coffees in Kelvinbridge.

After three years however, the sisters have decided to focus on the wholesale side of their business and have announced their last day of trading will be before the end of this month, on Sunday April 24.

Sharing the update on social media, they told devastated customers: "After three VERY happy years on Great Western Road our lease at Cake Bar is coming to an end and we will be closing the shop at the end of April, with our last trading day being Sunday 24th April.

"After giving it lots of thought and even starting to look around at other shops, we’ve decided for the moment not to move to an alternative premises in order to give ourselves time to focus on building the wholesale side of our business.

"We’ve had to say no to so many new wholesale enquiries over the past year due to being too busy and we’d love to free up some time to be able to grow this side of the business as we LOVE working with other small hospitality businesses.

"If you run a cafe/ restaurant/ shop/ deli/ farm shop and would like more info on our wholesale offering, please email nichola@threesistersbake.co.uk."

And regular visitors to the cake shop have reacted to the 'sad news'.

One customer commented: "Hope you'll still do your afternoon/crafternoon teas?! They've become a tradition for our family."

Another said: "Where will we get birthday treats now?!"

And several have wished the sisters all the best as they switch their attention to the wholesale side of the business, with one person commenting: "Good luck with your next chapter ladies!!!"

We'll be sorry to see Three Sisters Bake go from the west end, but we're sure we won't have seen the last of them!
