One of Glasgow's top reviewed cafes closes down leaving diners 'gutted'

A popular Glasgow vegan cafe has closed down leaving diners 'gutted'.

Earlier this month, we reported pan-Asian restaurant Puti Vegan Cafe had announced it would be forced to shut after their lease ended, and their landlord did not offer the option to renew it.

At the beginning of March the team shared the sad news on social media, confirming their final business day before their closure would be this coming Wednesday.

However, late last night (Sunday) Puti owners shared a post on Facebook telling their customers they've had to call final orders early.

They said: "With deep regret, Puti will now finally be closed due to unforeseen circumstances.

"We apologise for the late notice but we do thank everyone who has supported us throughout our journey."

However, the Puti team have teased they may return in the near future, adding: "Fingers crossed we will be back soon! Meanwhile, please take care!

"Love from Puti family."

On March 1, they told their followers they had been unable to reach a lease agreement with their landlord, commenting: "With great sadness, Puti will be closing its doors for the foreseeable future (Our last business day will be Wednesday 30th March).

"This is due to the ending of our lease where renewing was not an option given by the landlord.

"We’ve managed to build up a big family from nothing and it’s a big thanks to you ALL."

This morning, devastated Puti customers have responded to the news on Facebook with comments such as: "Will miss your food, and your absolutely wonderful staff. I wish you all the very best for the future."

One customer said: "So incredibly gutted for you guys. All my fingers and toes crossed you will successfully reopen because your food was something else."

Meanwhile, many remain hopeful Puti will make a comeback, with one person adding: "We had the last meal pre first lockdown and one of the first after you reopened. Please find somewhere else your vegan scran is delish!"
