A POPULAR Glasgow city centre restaurant has suddenly shut its doors, leaving regulars gutted at the news.
Grilled by Ajay Kumar, on West Regent Street, has announced it will close permanently after less than a year in business.
The grill‑focused venue was opened in July 2025 by chef Ajay Kumar, who also runs award‑winning Indian restaurant Swadish on Ingram Street.
Inspired by the grills of India, Grilled aimed to “celebrate meat in its most glorious form” and was billed by its owner as his “soul on a plate” when it launched.
In an announcement shared online, the restaurant said: “After an unforgettable journey, we have made the difficult decision to close Grilled, which is now permanently no longer trading.”
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to every guest who dined with us, celebrated special moments, and supported us over the years.”
“Your loyalty and encouragement have meant the world to our team, and we are truly grateful to have shared so many wonderful memories with you.”
The statement added that customers with unused gift vouchers for Grilled can redeem them at Swadish or request a refund via the restaurant’s team.
It concluded: “Thank you once again for being part of Grilled’s story. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you to Swadish soon.”
Fans of the restaurant have taken to social media to share their disappointment.
