A beloved Glasgow city centre restaurant has announced it will shut its doors for good, leaving regulars "absolutely gutted".
Bosses at Las Iguanas, on West Nile Street, have said that "with a heavy heart" they will close on August 2.
The restaurant first opened in the city around 13 years ago, offering customers a variety of Latin American dishes. It was also well-known for its cocktail servings.
In a statement, it was announced that after "many wonderful years" serving the people of Glasgow the restaurant would close in a few weeks time.
It read: "We want to say a huge thank you to every single guest who has dined with us, celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, date nights, family meals, and so many other special moments. Your support, laughter, and loyalty have meant the world to us, and we truly couldn't have done it without you.
"To our amazing team – past and present – thank you for your passion, hard work, and dedication. You've made Las Iguanas Glasgow so much more than just a restaurant.
"As we enter our final weeks, we kindly ask everyone to show a little extra patience and kindness to our staff. This is an emotional time for them, and they're continuing to give their all to make every visit a memorable one. A smile, a kind word, or a little understanding can make a huge difference."
The UK chain company's lawyers had told the High Court on May 6 that the business had "fallen into financial difficulties".
Iguanas Holdings barrister previously warned that if a restructuring plan wasn't approved, the company will have "no funding to continue trading" and could fall into administration.
The company previously ran 47 restaurants across the UK.
Gutted customers took to social media to share their disappointment at the news.
One said: "Absolutely gutted. My husband and I love a boozy brunch here. Sad news."
Another added: "So sad for the staff – they were always a good laugh and accommodating."
