Popular 'Gig On A Truck' set to head out across Perth and Kinross as COVID restrictions ease

Horsecross Arts’ Gig On A Truck is set to head back out on tour again after COVID restrictions were relaxed.

The outdoor mobile stage, which to date has only been able to travel to private locations, will tour public spaces across Perth and Kinross from Saturday, May 22.

Members of the public will be able to buy tickets directly from local organisations at each location with concerts being held in compliance with COVID-19 guidelines for outdoor events.

The tour launches at the Madoch Centre, St Madoes on Saturday, May 22 with a performance by singer and guitarist Amy Raynor.

Folk band Rallion will be entertaining the crowds at Birnam on Saturday, June 5 and vocal and guitar duo Make Geography History will perform on the Gig On A Truck stage on Saturday, June 26 in Kinross Market Park as part of Kinross Summer Market.

Singer songwriter Calum Campbell will play Kettins on Saturday, July 10.

Further musicians and locations will be confirmed as the tour progresses.

Lu Kemp, artistic director for Perth Theatre said: “It’s been a long, tough period for many people – and specifically for freelancers in the arts – and we are delighted to be able to offer local musicians a paying gig, whilst bringing some much needed live entertainment to the people of Perth and Kinross.”

Marieke McBean, local singer and musician and founder member of the Scottish folk band Rallion, added: “We are really excited about being able to share our music with an audience again after a strange year of no live gigs.

“It’s fantastic to get this chance and we look forward to the performance.”
