Popular Front of India module wanted to disturb PM Narendra Modi's visit: NIA

PATNA: Members of the Phulwarisharif terror module with suspected ties to the Popular Front of India (PFI) planned to disturb Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Patna on July 12, the National Investigation Agency has said in its FIR.

The central probe agency -which had on Thursday conduced searches at the homes of several suspects in six districts of Bihar -has filed two FIRs since taking over the probe from the state police.

One FIR names 26 persons for planning to disrupt Modi's visit. The other FIR is against an arrested suspect, Marghoob Ahmad Danish, for alleged involvement in radicalising youths and anti-India activities.

Both FIRs, dated July 22, are almost similar to those of Bihar police earlier. DSP Vipin Kumar, from the NIA's Lucknow office, is the chief investigating officer in both cases.

"During the proposed PM's visit to Bihar, some suspected persons had assembled in Phulwarisharif area on 11-07-22. On secret information, a raid was carried out, resulting into interception of two persons, namely Athar Parvez and Mohd Jalaluddin. During the search, several incriminating documents were seized. They were related to anti-India activities," the FIR against the 26 persons states.

The agency has invoked IPC Sections 120, 120B, 121, 121A of the IPC (criminal conspiracy), 153A and 153B (promoting enmity on grounds of religion, race, etc..) and 34 (common intention).

The NIA has said Danish was "allegedly involved in anti-India activities and radicalisation of impressionable youths using various social media platforms". "During his interrogation, it was revealed that he was the admin of two WhatsApp groups named Ghazwa-e-Hind and also a group on BIP chat having the same name," the FIR states.

Danish was found to be in contact with foreign radical social media platforms and had posted messages to promote anti-national sentiments, the FIR says.
