Popular football manager in serious condition in hospital after being hit by motorbike

A popular football figure is in a serious condition in hospital following a late-night incident in Swansea.

Jonathan Davies, the development team manager at Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC, was involved in a collision with a motorcycle in the city centre on Saturday night.

He had been walking near the junction of Wind Street at around 10.30pm when he was hit by the vehicle as it was travelling from the direction of Princess Way towards Fabian Way.

Both Jonathan and the rider of the motorcycle were taken to hospital with what police described as “serious injuries”.

Jonathan remains in a serious but stable condition in Morriston Hospital.

He has spent time on the High Dependency Unit and is awaiting an operation after sustaining multiple fractures in Saturday’s incident.

Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC are reeling from the news and are praying that their former defender, who took over as development team manager at the start of this season, makes a full recovery.

“Everybody at the club is shocked by what happened on Saturday night,” said club treasurer Stuart Williams.

“Jonathan has been an integral part of the club this season and this has come as a huge shock. Everyone at the club is just wishing him all the very best and we hope he makes a full recovery.”

Police continue to appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have seen the motorcycle - a black Suzuki 125cc - travelling in the area to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 1900189048.

They also want to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage or mobile phone footage of the incident.
