Organisers have announced that the second day of the Southport Food and Drink Festival has been cancelled due to bad weather.
The news which was posted to the Southport Food and Drink Festival Facebook Page said: "Due to the condition of the park with the overnight rain, the water log will not clear in time to open and make the event enjoyable". The dates for this year's festival coincided with the Platinum Jubilee and saw a strong turnout at the festival to support local businesses yesterday.
Organisers hope to reopen the festival as scheduled tomorrow. People have taken to Facebook to show support for the event as one person said: "Shame but understand. I was going to come today but luckily can try again Sunday. Fingers crossed the weather is not going to be as bad as forecast at the moment."

While another commented: "Good luck for tomorrow. It was the right decision, I've seen how bad that park gets in the rain".
A post from the Southport Food and Drink Festival Facebook Page read: "Today, Friday 3rd June, we have taken the decision to cancel today. Overnight rain has caused the park to waterlog and unfortunately, it will not be clear enough for the festival to be an enjoyable experience for visitors (even with wellies).
"We will be back tomorrow so we will see you all then."
