Popular Edinburgh takeaway forced to close after coronavirus confirmed

Another Edinburgh eatery has announced they will be temporarily closing this week after a coronavirus case was confirmed.

The surge in cases in and around the Lothians has affected a number of shops, schools and restaurants, with many people having to self-isolate.

On Thursday (June 24), The Little Chartroom on the Prom informed customers that they too would be shutting up shop for a short while after a staff member tested positive.

The pop-up van on Portobello Prom took to social media to share that due to the close proximity of the premises, all staff will now have to self-isolate for 10 days.

In a post, they said: "12 months of being open during the pandemic and the team have stayed healthy throughout.

"Sadly that good run has come to an end as one member has tested positive for covid. Health protection Scotland have advised the rest of the team who came into close contact with him to isolate for 10 days from the point of contact which means we will need to shut up shop up for a bit."

The eatery at the beach offers a number of upscale and first class seafood dishes to visitors and locals, and is a sister venue to the main restaurant in Leith.

Owned by Roberta Hall, the main restaurant is thought not to have been affected by the positive case, and remains open to customers.
