An independent restaurant in Edinburgh has been left 'heartbroken' after selfish criminals stole their delivery moped.
Ramen bar Gulp in Leith were devastated to find that callous crooks had stolen the 'Gulp Mobile' on Tuesday evening and took to Instagram to try and find the culprits.
Gulp owner Elizabeth Elliott has since taken to the social media site to share the news that parts of the vehicle had been found on Leith's railway paths, with fears that the moped had been dumped into the Water of Leith.
She wrote: "Sadly I’ve found parts of the Gulp Mobile down on the railway paths so we think it has been lost to the bottom of the water of Leith. Thanks all for sharing, sadly this story didn’t have a happy ending."
However, Elizabeth told Edinburgh Live today that there may still be hope for the Gulp Mobile and will be return to the railway tracks to search for the stolen vehicle - with members of the public asked to look out for a moped with the registration plate GP16 DXJ.
The news comes after local businesses in Leith were blasted with graffiti by shameless vandals and cafes in Edinburgh's Old Town had their doorways smashed and set on fire.
Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
