Popular Edinburgh nightclub with retro 80s theme goes up for sale with £500,000 price tag

A popular Edinburgh nightclub has gone on the market for offers over £500,000.

Please Don’t Tell - also known as P.D.T - has become a fixture of Edinburgh’s nightlife scene since opening its doors on Shandwick Place in 2015.

The quirky club is kitted out with a retro 80s theme, featuring a host of arcade machines as well as space for live music.

Current leaseholders Polmex Edinburgh, who operate the venue, have a 20-year, £35,000 per annum agreement in place lasting until 2030, however the building is now set to pass into new ownership after being brought onto the market.

However buyers will require deep pockets to get their hands on the club, with offers over half a million invited.

According to the listing by property firm Ryden, P.D.T. is a “night club especially popular with students and weekend crowds”.

It also notes the “property was substantially upgraded by the tenant in 2015 and has a capacity of approximately 177 people”.

The listing adds: “The street level entrance leads down to a well configured open plan entrance/gaming space leading on to a prominent corner bar area. Adjacent to the bar is a dance floor and DJ booth surrounded by seating.”

It comes as most bars and restaurants in the capital remain closed during the COVID-19 lockdown, with a select few operating on a takeaway-only basis.

P.D.T. last opened on March 19, before closing down in line with government regulations a day later.
