Popular Edinburgh nightclub turns dance floor into pub with £30 charge per table

An Edinburgh nightclub has transformed its dancefloor into a pub in order to open during Scotland's current lockdown restrictions.

Nightclubs are not allowed to open under Scottish coronavirus legislation - with their reopening not permitted even in the lowest of tiers.

However ATIK - or Cav to older readers - in Tollcross announced on their social media platforms that they would be filling their dancefloor with punters once more, but not in the normal manner.

Instead drinkers can sit indoors at tables across the popular student-friendly nightclub's main room every Friday and Saturday night between 5.30pm and 10pm.

Unsurprisingly, fans of the venue were ecstatic at the news, with over 450 people tagging their friends on the nightclub's post.

"My 18-year-old self is saying that I need to book this", wrote one Facebook user.

"Oh my god I can relive my Cav days without the dancing", added another.

However, some people weren't impressed with the £30 price tag for booking the table - along with an addition £3 reservation fee.

One person commented "£30 for a table reservation?! I hope it includes alcohol" with many others in agreement.

"£30 to pay for a table reservation are you kidding me on ATIK?", another agreed.

You can book tickets for ATIK's pub in a club here.
