Popular Edinburgh crazy golf saved from closure after new venue fell through

An Edinburgh crazy golf venue has been saved from closure after their new venue fell through at the last minute.

Fore Play Crazy Golf have confirmed they will be able to stay in their current home of Picardy Place until the end of this year after two separate knock backs.

Running a Scottish themed adults-only course with a busy bar and eatery downstairs, the company had been trying to move for some time, with plans for a Grassmarket venue rejected by the council last year.

From there, the nine-hole course had been earmarked for a Fountainbridge unit, however the plans were also dashed at the last minute.

To save the site from a temporary closure, Foreplay stated that a new extension at Picardy Place for 2023, with staff introducing an entire new course to shake things up.

“After the initial disappointment of the Grassmarket, we were frustrated at Fountainbridge falling through at the last minute. It’s absolutely gutting to not have a permanent home in this sensational city”, said co-owner Craig Neilson.

“But it gives us a chance to create something extra-special for our customers to enjoy. Now that we know we’re staying longer, we’re introducing a bangin’ new golf course along with some additional local food & drink”.

Fore Play are promising a bigger and better ‘locally-inspired’ course for the venue, which is set to open in the coming months. In the meantime, customers have been told to keep their eyes peeled for further news and enjoy one last tee-off at the iconic “Wee Bobby” course, before it ‘goes to the graveyard’.
