A new Edinburgh-brewed coffee bar is set to open in the capital this week, starting off as a takeaway pop-up whilst the building is fully renovated.

The coffee roasters and equipment suppliers have been bringing some of the finest blends to the capital since 2013 and have explored the idea of having their own venue's to sell some of their finest blends throughout the city.

Their cafe at Tollcross in the city centre recently closed to make way for the store in Marchmont, putting an end to an eight year stint.

The new store will be on Marchmont Road, opening as early as 7am throughout the week and closing at 5pm. Weekend opening times will be 9am-6pm.

Just before the new year, the team posted a farewell message to fans of their previous bar in Tollcross, saying that it's a "bittersweet feeling" to be leaving their home on Brougham Street, but a "great excitement" was also on the horizon with news of a new store in Marchmont.

After an original opening date of today (January 10) a slight push-back means that Machina will officially open for take-out orders tomorrow, January 11.

The team posted the update on their Instagram page, saying "Machina Marchmont will be open for takeaway from Tuesday 11 January! Please note we are delayed opening until Tuesday morning.

"The big day is almost here, and we're itching to get back behind the counter serving up great coffee at our new home in Marchmont. We can't wait to see you all your lovely wee faces again."

The team confirmed that they will be selling coffee to go, as well as stocking their most popular blends and coffee single origin beans and their very own at-home brew kit.

The company also have an extensive list of coffee brewing equipment such as machines, glasses and filters available to purchase on their website, as well as hot chocolate and tea.

Teasing further good news in the future for Machina lovers, they also confirmed plans to expand further within Edinburgh on their website.

The team posted: "This is a start to a busy period for Machina, as Marchmont is the first of a series of speciality coffee spaces we plan to open across Edinburgh in the near future. Watch this space!"
