Popular Edinburgh bars receive award nod at national nightlife ceremony

An Edinburgh bar offering an authentic Italian cocktail experience has been shortlisted for a national award celebrating the best in British nightlife.

Hey Palu brings the spirit of ‘aperitivo’ culture to the capital in the form of a carefully selected drinks menu paired with a “killer playlist” from their outlet on Bread Street.

The Tollcross establishment, which takes its name from an informal Italian greeting, has gained a cult following since arriving in the capital.

And it has now been recognised as one of two Edinburgh bars shortlisted as a finalist in the Class magazine awards.

The cocktail hideaway faces stiff competition from three London-based outlets in the Specialist Bar of the Year category.

Fellow Edinburgh bar Bon Vivant, based on Thistle Street, has also received an award nod for menu of the year.

It too faces a trio of London locations in the category.

The ceremony, which takes place in London’s Bethnal Green later this year, attracts entries from across the UK.

“We are thrilled to announce the finalists of the CLASS Bar Awards 2022,” organisers wrote in a social media post announcing the shortlist.

“Having taken a break in 2021, the Class Bar Awards returns with a not-to-be-missed awards ceremony and party.”
