A popular Leith bar has temporarily shut its doors over covid fears after a customer returned a positive test.
Staff at Woodland Creatures have been sent home while track and trace protocols are carried out after it emerged a patron had recorded a positive covid-19 test.
Bosses at the Leith Walk establishment say workers remain symptom free, but have taken the precautionary measure to close in the meantime so the venue can undergo a deep clean.
A notice on the front of the bar warned drinkers of closure, while those who have booked an indoor slot have been contacted regarding rearranging or cancelling their reservations.
A statement on Facebook read: “We have to close (temporarily)!
“Unfortunately a guest who visited last Thursday (17 June) has informed us that they have tested positive for COVID-19 a week after their visit.
“All staff who were on shift at the time thankfully remain symptom free and have already had a negative result from a lateral flow test.
“However, as a precaution we have chosen to close until all staff have had the results of a PCR test and we’ve had time to deep clean the venue.
“We can only apologise for any inconvenience caused and we will be in touch with all affected bookings.”
It is the latest Capital hospitality venue to impose protocols amid a growing number of cases in the city.
Cocktail bar Lady Libertine and cafe Honeycomb and co shut down earlier this week over concerns surrounding potential outbreaks.
Figures for the latest 24-hour testing period confirmed 849 new cases of coronavirus were present in the NHS Lothian health board area.
