Popular Edinburgh bakery Kilted Donut announce sad closure of second store

A popular Edinburgh artisan doughnut shop has closed its doors in one of the capital's busiest neighbourhoods.

Kilted Donut announced the sad closure of their Stockbridge bakery following the recent launch of their flagship store in the Grassmarket. A venue on Great Junction Street was also shut down last year.

The expert doughnut makers have become popular across the capital for their unique take on everyone's favourite sugary treat with weird but wonderful fillings and mini doughnuts.

However, Kilted Donut's second store in Stockbridge is officially closed, although the team did hint that they could return one day.

Posting on Instagram they said: "We’re sad to say that our Stockbridge shop on St Stephen Street is now closed. Our Grassmarket shop is open and we hope to be back in Stockbridge soon.

"Thank you to everyone who visited us there we look forward to seeing you all again."

Kilted Donut in the heart of the Grassmarket remains open and busy as usual following the closure of their Leith branch in 2022. When making the announcement, staffing issues and rising costs were referenced in making it difficult for the business to operate in the current financial climate.

The handcrafted doughnuts are changed up every week to keep customers guessing. Some of the flavours that Kilted Donut offer are Crème Brule, fudge brownie, maple bacon, raspberry lemonade and cookie explosion.
