A popular pub in Bristol is set to reopen next week with eight new seating booths in its garden.
The Plough in Easton is loved for its regular live music events, friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere.
Like all pubs across the UK it closed in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but its owners decided not to reopen on July 4 when many others did.
They said they could not "figure out how to manage it safely without excluding loads of our community and killing the vibe," so decided to keep the doors shut.
That will change tomorrow (August 24), when the Easton Road boozer reopens with additional seating in its garden - built by friends of the pub - to increase its capacity and allow it to operate as safely as possible.
The pub's owners said they "couldn't face doing a crowdfunder to save the pub and our jobs" so instead roped in the help of their pals to build new seating booths in the beer garden.
They shared the news on the pub's Facebook page, writing: "Its make or break. We choose make!
"We can’t face doing a crowd funder to save the pub and our jobs.
"So in a bid to open the pub safely, we have taken extreme Temporary measures.
"Our friends have donated wood, skills, time to build the plough social (distance) club.
"We are building 8 booths of fun in our beer garden.
"We have done, are doing and will continue to do everything we can do to make it welcoming, fun and safe. Its a work in progress."
The pub will trial the new outdoor seating area next week between Monday and Wednesday, opening it between midday and 9pm.
The post warns there is still a risk in visiting pubs during a pandemic, continuing: "The temporary measures still may not work."
