Popular Dublin pub reopens after long lockdown

Popular Dublin city pub O'Reilly's has announced that it will be reopening today for the first time since lockdown.

The pub on Tara Street has been closed since Covid-19 restrictions were first announced in March 2020.

The iconic venue is famous for its Victorian interior design and memorable church pews.

They will be accepting table bookings from 4pm today via Facebook messages.

Loyal customers were overjoyed to hear the good news with one Facebook user calling the the pub their "second home."

O'Reilly's took to Facebook to announce their reopening.

They said: "We are excited to announce that for what seems like a lifetime we are finally Re-Opening O’Reillys Bar down here on Tara St.

"From 4pm tomorrow Wednesday 6th October, we will only be accepting table bookings for now. If you would like to make a booking for tomorrow or right up until this Saturday, Simply message the page with your details.

"Céad Míle Fáilte! From all out us here at O’Reilly’s and we truly look forward to seeing all our friends old and new joining us for a chat and a drink.

“Croi follain agus gob fliuch.”

Meanwhile, Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has warned that hospitality restrictions could be reintroduced this winter.

This could see restaurants and pubs close up shop for Christmas if Covid-19 cases rise.

Donnelly looked for TD's approval to extend “the legal framework” to bring back restrictions.

October 22nd was previously the date that the final health restrictions would be lifted, with clubs set to reopen for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic.
