Popular Dolmio sauce sold in Dunnes, Supervalu, Tesco and more recalled due to safety concerns

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has issued a recall notice for a popular product sold in stores nationwide due to safety concerns.

Specific batches of Dolmio Carbonara Pasta Sauce pouches and Dolmio Carbonara Stir-In Pasta Sauce has been recalled due to the presence of soya in the product, which is undeclared.

This may make the affected batches unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of soybeans.

The effected items are listed below.

Dolmio Carbonara Pasta Sauce (pouch) 150g:

  • Code 209A9WE Best before date 28.02.23
  • Code 209B92WE Best before date 01.03.23

The FSAI also issued a recall notice for a popular product sold in SPAR stores due to safety concerns.

It recalled a number of batches of Spar ’s own brand Spread Up Hazelnut Choco because it contains nuts (almonds) which are not mentioned on the label.

This may make the affected batches unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of nuts.

The affected batches of the spread include all those with best before end dates of June 2022, August 2022, September 2022, November 2022 and December 2022.

The FSAI also issued a recall notice for some batches of a popular bread product sold in stores across the country last week.

Pat the Baker and Irish Pride recalled some items due to food safety concerns .

The food companies are recalling Pat the Baker Quality Bread Quality Crumb; pack size: 400g, Pat the Baker Breadcrumb; pack size: 5Kg, Irish Pride Bread Crumbs; pack size: 400g and Irish Pride Catering Bread Crumbs; pack size: 2Kg due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause infection and can be identified with mild flu-like symptoms or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. However, the infection can be more severe in rare cases, causing serious complications.

Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, babies, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly.

The incubation period (time between initial infection and first symptoms appearing) is, on average, three weeks but can range between three and 70 days.

Retailers are requested to remove the implicated batches from sale and to display a point-of-sale recall notice in stores where the affected batches were sold.

Wholesalers/distributors are also requested to contact their affected customers and recall the affected batches and provide a point-of-sale recall notice to their retailer customers.

Caterers should not use the implicated batches.

Consumers are advised not to eat the implicated batches.

The effect batches are all those with a best before date from 27/05/2022 to 15/06/2022 inclusive.

Other bread products were also recalled last week, including Get Fresh at Home Petits Pains.

The batch was recalled due to possible metal contamination.

Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batch: Best before date: 07/08/2022
