Popular Derbyshire farm cafe business to be sold following owner’s retirement

A popular Derbyshire farm cafe which announced its closure last month is set to be sold at auction.

Hollies Farm Cafe, in Spondon Road, Dale Abbey, near Ilkeston, has been included in a sale organised by SDL Auctions Graham Penny, which is due to take place at Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium on September 5.

The business announced its closure on Facebook last month due to the retirement of its owner. The 4,000 sq ft property has been given a guide price of £185,000-plus.

In the particulars, SDL Auctions said: “The building is very well presented and its current planning uses are retail and cafe/restaurant.

“The building until very recently housed a very successful and well-known business known as Hollies Farm Cafe, which was run by the current owner of the building but has closed very recently due to retirement.

“The building benefits from an alcohol licence between the hours of 9am and 9pm. There is also a large outdoor decking/seating area and an upstairs floor/seating area with fantastic far reaching views of the countryside.”

According to SDL Auctions, the property could be operated in its current state - or put to other uses.

It said: “This building would be suitable for a number of uses, subject the planning consent, due to its size and location.

“Plans are currently being considered by Erewash Borough Council’s planning department for a two-bedroomed owners accommodation within the existing footprint of the building making this a totally unique opportunity.

“The sale is for the building only and the quality fixtures and fittings and kitchen equipment can be purchased by the purchaser by separate negotiation if required.”
