Popular Dalkey pub The Queens back from the dead with fantastic new food yard ahead of major refurbishment

Popular Dalkey pub The Queens is back from the dead with the launch of a fantastic new food yard ahead of a major refurbishment.

The hugely popular southside bar closed its doors for what seemed like the final time in March 2020.

In June last year, previous owner Tom Mulcahy announced it would not be reopening due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But earlier this summer, it emerged hoteliers Ray Byrne and Eoin Doyle had bought the iconic boozer and it has now reopened under the day to day management of Eoin Quinlan.

The much loved spot is undergoing an extensive indoor refurbishment but in the meantime the area behind the pub has been transformed into into a festival style eat yard, perfect for outdoor summer dining.

The spacious pop up food yard features gourmet food trucks with a delicious range of options available, including Real Irish Gourmet Burger and Bak’d and a sourdough pizza truck.

The container Bar serves tasty pints and a retro airstream provides signature cocktails including the Cosmo Candy which has a candyfloss garnish.

Thirsty punters can also enjoy The Bourne Star - a cocktail named in honour of famous former Dalkey resident Matt Damon.

The Queens food yard is open from 3pm – 10pm Wednesday to Friday with the drinks bar staying open until 11pm and starting from 2pm on Fridays, and all trucks and bars are open from 1pm – 10pm Saturday – Sunday.
