An independent Leeds bar has announced it will be opening a second branch later this year.
The New Assembly, in Crossgates, is to open at a bigger bar with two floors in Garforth this autumn.
Co-owners Matthew and Stephanie Cliffe announced the plans earlier this week and revealed that the Crossgates store which has been open for two years will remain open.
Plans of the expansion have been in the works since last October but due to the coronavirus pandemic, they were delayed 14 weeks.
Since sharing the news, the family-owned business has received positive feedback from customers.
Matthew said: “It’s exciting times. The plans have been in place since October.
“Coronavirus delayed everything but it worked in our favour, we’re ready to get going. We’ve had lots of good responses online about this.
“It’s not the best climate for businesses but hopefully things will get better.”
The bar, café and bottle store opened again on July 4 after closing due to the pandemic months earlier.
Customers have to now book online and there is a 1 hour 45 minute table time which Matthew adds has been working.
Matthew added: “It’s been great so far, we’ve had great responses since reopening especially the first week, the regular customers came.
"We have an outside area and we’ve been blessed with good weather. The booking system has been working well.
“People have been nice and positive, reopening has given people a bit of normality.”
