One of Liverpool’s most popular restaurants has closed its doors after almost six years in business.
Castle Street pizzeria Maluco, which opened in 2016 as ‘Santa Maluco’, has closed for good.
The venue on the corner of Castle Street now has boarded up windows and features signs for a replacement restaurant.

Maluco was marketed as a "rodizio pizzeria", serving pizzas by the slice or for sharing, so customers could have as much or as little as they want.
As well as pizza by the slice, Maluco features an elaborate cocktail menu including the Five Dollar Shake.
During lockdown in 2020 Maluco opened a deli and grab and go section, where visitors could get their hands on everything from vegan products from Indigo Greens and freshly baked goods from Liz Beth Bakes to fresh pies from Ellis Barrie’s The Fat Pig Farm and Maluco’s own pizzas.
Now, signs in the window of the Castle Street venue say it will be replaced by a tapas restaurant in spring 2022.
The ECHO has contacted Maluco for a comment.
