Popular café in south Bristol closes permanently

A popular café which opened in Brislington 10 years ago will not reopen after lockdown.

Cafe Britalia on Wick Road was loved for its "excellent" full breakfast and friendly service, with owners Franco and Daniel always providing a friendly welcome.

But the pair have announced that their business has closed permanently due to "overheads increasing and the future uncertain".

In a statement they said: "To all our amazing loyal friends, as I’m sure you are aware we’ve made the tough decision not to reopen.

Find out where's delivering near you:

"It was a tough decision to make. But with overheads increasing and the future uncertain I felt it was my only choice.

"I had 10 great years in Brislington being made to fill welcome and part of the community.

"We’ve seen many faces come and go and children born and grow and also children turn to adults.

"Don’t really know what else to say but thank you all for the support and custom over the years.

"The comments and messages we’ve read are great and makes it even harder."

They added it was "such a shame" they are not able to say goodbye properly to their loyal customers who have supported them over the past decade.

The post has been met with widespread sadness from the community, with people writing they are "gutted" to hear the news, which marks the "end of and era".

Cafe Britalia had a five star rating on TripAdvisor and a rating of 4.9 on Facebook.
