Popular burger chain set to open new Ayrshire restaurant in matter of weeks

An Ayrshire burger chain will open an Ardrossan outlet within a matter of weeks.

Meat in the Middle (MITM) will open at 59 Princes Street in the town centre, creating new jobs for the area.

The takeaway is the Kilmarnock business's fourth Ayrshire venue and sixth overall across Scotland.

In addition to Ardrossan, MITM has locations in Kilmarnock, Ayr, Falkirk, Irvine and Paisley, Renfrewshire as well.

There is no official opening date yet but owner Ross Gilmour is hoping to be cooking up a storm in May, with sit-in and takeaway offered.

Starting life in a Kilmarnock pub in 2020, MITM embarked on a rapid expansion programme during lockdown, bucking the trend for the casual dining sector.

The brand has now been franchised in numerous locations.

Ross previously told Ayrshire Live: “It obviously started off in the Clansman Bar and the reception we got from it was unbelievable.

“During lockdown, we were running it from the pub and once it opened back up, it can be quite busy, so we couldn’t physically run it from there any more with the amount of staff and customers.

“We’ve got our own place now and it’s gone from strength to strength and we’ve just decided to franchise it out because the numbers have just been crazy."
