Popular Bristol street party to celebrate tenth anniversary in style

Visitors to one of Bristol’s most popular annual street parties will have to comply with the council’s strict Covid guidelines this year.

The Cotham Hill street party is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, with several live bands lined up along with market stalls and street food served by the local shops and cafes.

But despite it being held outside in the street, visitors will have to take along proof of having had double vaccinations or a negative lateral flow test taken 24 hours before the event.

Visitors will also be asked to sign in with the NHS track and trace app or their contact details will be collected manually by staff.

The Cotham Hill street party has grown into a huge community event over the past ten years, with thousands of people attending.

This year’s musical line-up includes soulful country act The Shrinks, 60s-style garage-surfers The Dukes of Mumbai and veteran headliners Gee Baby I Love You.

Many of the restaurants, bars and cafes on Cotham Hill will open and offer food and drink in the street, which has been temporarily pedestrianised over recent months due to the pandemic.

Organiser Simon Baines said: “This will be the tenth Cotham Hill Street Party and, if past years are anything to go by, the locals know how to celebrate in style.

“There are some great bands lined up, with music ranging from surf to soul, and there will be food, drink and plenty of stalls to keep everyone entertained in between the bands performing.”

The Cotham Hill Street Party takes place on Sunday, September 12 from midday until 6pm.
