Popular Bristol restaurant Dela to be sold after just two years

A popular cafe-restaurant in Easton has been put up for sale by the owners just two years after it opened.

Dela, in Mivart Street, is based in a former Victorian warehouse which is home to a variety of independent and creative businesses.

Easton has a thriving restaurant and cafe scene, and Dela is very much a part of that.

The restaurant, which is well known for its quality coffee, exotic locally-sourced lunches served on rustic trencher style boards, and specialities, is Scandinavian inspired.

Named after the Swedish word for ‘share’, the cafe in the Mivart studios sells dishes made with produce from the South West, organic wine and local beers and cider.

The industrial heritage studio space, has high ceilings, wide windows, and dotted with houseplants gives it what Olive magazine called a ‘minimalist and artful’’ experience.

Co-owners Mike Orme and Lara Lindsay opened the cafe-restaurant in 2017 but say they are now “looking to explore other opportunities”.

Lara said: “Almost two years ago to the day, we took on a tired old warehouse space in need of a lot of love.

“Following a long summer of grafting we opened the doors to Dela, a space we're hugely proud of.

“However, nothing ever stands still, it's been an amazing and rewarding journey, and Mike and I are now looking for a little more time for ourselves and to pursue other projects.

“We've decided to pass on the baton and put the business up for sale. The space will still remain open for you to enjoy, but with a couple of new faces running things. Thank you all for making Dela the great place it is.”

The restaurant is now being marketed by leisure property specialists Fleurets.

A new lease is being offered on Dela at a guide rent of £22,500 per year, plus a premium of £50,000 to purchase the business as a going concern.

Kevin Conibear at Fleurets is handling the transaction on Dela’s behalf.

He added: “The independent restaurant scene in Bristol continues to attract huge attention and we are witnessing strong levels of demand for well configured neighbourhood restaurants.

“The reputation that Mike and Lara have established, the quality of the accommodation and being situated in a sought after area is likely to attract considerable interest.”
