Popular Bristol pub shuts after staff members test positive for coronavirus

A popular Bristol pub has been forced to close after two of its staff have tested positive for coronavirus

The Lazy Dog in Ashley Down announced yesterday (Thursday, June 17), that all staff will be isolating after two of its members contracted covid-19

A statement shared on the business' Facebook page reads: "We’re incredibly sad to say we’re having to shut the pub again.

"We’ve had two positive tests back for staff, so have no other option than all isolating for 10 days to keep everyone safe.

"We’re gutted to say the least, but will be back as soon as we’re all fit to fight another day!"

Since the pub's reopening of indoor drinking on May 17, punters will have no choice but to wait again as the pub is set to reopen in more than a week's time.

The closure comes amid what Bristol's public health boss Christina Gray has called "a sharp increase in [coronavirus] infections, both in Bristol and across the country".
