A popular Westhoughton pub has suddenly announced that it will shut down this weekend.
The Waggon & Horses, on Chorley Road, said that Sunday, June 27 will be its last day of service.
They added in a statement online that both management and staff were ‘very shocked’.
The statement said they are unsure what the future plans are for the building.

“It’s with a very heavy heart that we have to announce that this weekend we will only be doing drinks service and Sunday 27th June will be the last day of operating for the Waggon and Horses Westhoughton,” a statement on social media said.
“We and all the staff are very shocked!
“It’s been lovely meeting and having the support of all of our lovely customers over the past year and a bit which has been of course very hard to keep the business going during these times.”
Fans of the pub reacted to the news online with dismay.
“So sorry to hear this, you have worked so hard through lockdown it must be extremely disappointing to hear,” Helen KP commented.
Caroline Dale added that she ‘couldn’t believe it’ after ‘all your hard work’ and ‘beautiful food’ served in the pub.
Others wished those working at the pub well in their next ventures.
The statement from the business concluded by saying: “We will miss you all.”
As well as serving pints to punters, the pub had a well-liked menu, featuring a variety of classic dishes.
It also offered a takeaway service for fans who wished to eat in the comfort of their own home.
