Popular Belfast bar announces circuit breaker closure

A Belfast pub has announced a circuit breaker lockdown amid rising Covid cases.

The Spaniard Belfast, one of the Cathedral Quarter 's most popular pubs, took to their Facebook page on Saturday to let loyal customers know of their decision.

They posted: "Spaniards, you and our staff are our most favourite things, and with that in mind we're closing for a bit of a circuit breaker.

"Stay safe you wonderful bunch, and see you soon. Sx."

The Spaniard is just the latest in a series of popular establishments which has decided to announce its closure over the Christmas period and will not reopen until the New Year due to Covid.

The Barking Dog, on the Malone Road, had postponed their reopening after Christmas until December 30 after a number of positive cases in their staff team.

Meanwhile, Lough Erne Resort has announced it is to implement a short-term ‘circuit breaker’ closure due to the increasing levels of Covid-19 within Co Fermanagh.
