Popular baby food recalled over fears it contains plastic

Fears a popular brand of baby food may contain plastic have sparked a product recall.

Nutricia is recalling Aptamil Multigrain Banana and Berry Cereal 7+ months, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Parents and guardians are being told not to feed the product to their babies as the presence of plastic makes the product unsafe to eat.

Nutricia is recalling the 200g product with a best before date of July 7, 2021.

This is due to safety concerns and point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling it.

These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tells them what to do if they have bought the products.

The Food Standards Agency has said if you have bought the product, do not feed it to your baby and instead, return it to the store from where it was bought, with or without a receipt, for a full refund.

Alternatively, parents can contact the Aptamil careline number on 0800 996 1000 or visit its website.

The Food Standards Agency issues Product Withdrawal Information Notices and Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food.

In some cases, a 'Food Alert for Action' is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers.
