Two very special guests partied the day away at Douglas View care home in Hamilton last week.
Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse MSP, Christina McKelvie, Minister for Equalities and Older People, and former X Factor star Nicky McDonald attended a special party as part of the facility's open week celebrations.
The welcoming, purpose-built nursing and dementia care home, which is owned by HC-One, was delighted to open its doors to the pair to celebrate care home open week along with their residents, colleagues, friends, family, and the wider community.
Douglas View’s chosen theme for this year’s event was ‘Summer Celebration’. Throughout the week, residents enjoyed a variety of fun-filled activities, culminating in the summer party which included a performance from X-Factor contestant Nicholas McDonald, some fantastic music from Duncan Brown, a bagpipe player, as well as lots of singing and dancing.

Residents and colleagues also enjoyed meeting their MSP and chatting to her about what life is like living at Dougas View - which is integral part of the Hamilton community.
Louise Fulton, home manager at Douglas View, said: "We were delighted to welcome our guests to our home and open the doors of Douglas View again to our local community and bring everyone together to celebrate open week 2022. Everyone had an amazing time.
"We are proud to support Hamilton, and our celebrations provided a great opportunity to reconnect with our local community after the challenges of the pandemic, to support community engagement, and to remind our local community that our kind care teams are here if they ever need support for themselves or a loved one."

Visitors also enjoyed learning from colleagues in the home about what a rewarding career in care looks like and finding out about opportunities for community engagement and volunteering roles to support their local care community.
