Pope Francis says he feels shame over the Catholic Church's failure to prevent sexual abuse by members of the clergy.
During a visit to Ireland, he referred to abusers as "repugnant".
He also met with survivors of clerical abuse, as he tries to reinvigorate Catholicism in a country rocked by decades of scandals involving the church.
