Pope hits out at Elon Musk’s pay packet: ‘We’re in big trouble’

  • Pope Leo XIV has criticised excessive corporate pay packages, specifically citing Elon Musk's compensation plan for Tesla, in the first media interview of his papacy.
  • He highlighted the growing disparity between CEO and worker salaries, noting that executives now earn significantly more than employees compared to 60 years ago.
  • Leo expressed concern over the potential for Mr Musk to become the world's first trillionaire, saying: “If that is the only thing that has value anymore, then we're in big trouble.”
  • He also criticised the United Nations, saying it has lost its ability to foster effective multilateral diplomacy on global issues.
