Free cans of beer will be given out in Nottingham city centre this weekend from a travelling truck - here's where you'll find it

You won't need cash at funky touring pop-up bar Punk State - as all the beer is free.

BrewDog's travelling IPA truck is stopping in Nottingham city centre for two days this weekend as part of a 16 city European tour.

The pop-up will arrive tonight (August 15) in Smithy Row (near the Tourism Centre) before opening for business Friday, August 16 - Saturday, August 17.

Due to the city council's licensing rules the bar will only be handing out cans of the brewery's Punk AF beer – the brand new alcohol-free version of Punk IPA - but anyone (aged 18 or over) who drops by will also be given a voucher for a free pint of the proper stuff at O'Neill's, in Beastmarket Hill, as well as a free half of any 'headline' beer at BrewDog, in Broad Street.

Last year 23,000 cans of the brewery’s flagship beer, Punk IPA, were given away.

James Watt, captain of BrewDog says: “With Punk State being such a huge success last year, we really wanted to dial it up to 11 in 2019 with a bigger and better tour that not only spans the UK but key markets in Europe as well.”

“At BrewDog we always want to put our money where our mouth is and let the beer do the talking, this is why we’re bringing our flagship beer, Punk IPA, directly to the people so they can experience the craft beer revolution firsthand.”
