Pop Smoke accidentally broadcast his address to millions the day before his murder

Rapper Pop Smoke accidentally gave away his Hollywood Hills address the day before he was brutally gunned down inside his own home by masked burglars.

The 20-year-old up-and-coming musician, real name Bashar Barakah Jackson, had posted his home address in an Instagram video published just hours before two men broke in and shot him dead.

He'd been giving fans a peek at a haul of gifts he'd received, which were placed in the hallway of his LA home.

Quoting the lyrics from his track Dior, Pop rapped as he showed off his bags of goodies from the fashion design brand Amiri.

"Mike Amiri, Mike Amiri... ahaha. Billie Jean, Billie Jean," he laughed as he panned his phone over the black bags stuffed full of freebies.

However, what Pop may not have realised was that his address was still visible on the white labels of the gift bags, clearly showing where they'd been delivered.

Hours later, Pop was fatally injured when he was shot by two masked men who broke into his mansion, TMZ reported.

The men fired multiple shots, critically wounding him before fleeing on foot.

The rapper was rushed by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood where he was later pronounced dead.

A statement from the rapper's record label Republic Records confirmed: "We are devastated by the unexpected and tragic loss of @POPSMOKE10.

"Our prayers and thoughts go out to his family, friends and fans, as we mourn this loss together."

Just minutes before his death, Pop used his Twitter account to reply to a meme on the app with laughing face emojis.

He also replied to a viral TikTok video with star emojis, showing he was likely relaxing at home flicking through his timeline prior to the armed burglary.

Pop Smoke was best known for track Welcome To The Party, released in April last year, which became a viral hit and was remixed by Nicki Minaj and Skepta.

It was the lead single of Pop's debut mixtape Meet The Woo, which dropped in July.

Earlier this month, Pop released his second mixtape, Meet The Woo 2 , which reached No.8 on the latest Rolling Stone albums chart, amassing 37 million streams.

The rapper also featured on Travis Scott's 2019 track Gatti.

In an interview earlier this year, Pop spoke of his plans for the future as he reflected on his rise.

“This rapping is just another step in my life," he told XXL.

"There's no telling what I might do after this. I'll probably open up a store or some s**t."

Kylie Jenner was among the first stars to pay tribute to Pop's short life.

"Rest in peace pop smoke," she tweeted.

"I've had enough of 2020."
