Pop preview: The Dead Weather, London

Jack White is not a man afraid of hard work. Now not only the leader of the White Stripes and the Raconteurs, and head of an expanded version of his Third Man record company in Nashville, he's also found time to take on another project. The Dead Weather, in which he plays drums and writes some of the songs (alongside QOTSA guitarist Dean Fertita, Alison Mosshart from the Kills, and Little Jack from the Raconteurs), have so far recorded the album Horehound. At root a blast of blues-derived noise, it's not a million miles from the Stripes or Mosshart's band the Kills. It's simple, but it's elemental, and that may well be the point.
