Pop legends Bananarama turn to Derby firm for ‘Help!’ with new music video

A Derby videography and photography firm has revealed it is the company behind the official music video for the latest single released by pop legends Bananarama.

‘Av It Media, which is based at Prime Industrial Park, in Shaftesbury Street, created the video for Looking for Someone, which is the second single from the pop duo’s new album In Stereo.

The firm was asked by the band to produce the video having previously put together a lyric animation for the first single, Stuff Like That, which was released in March.

‘Av It Media was founded last summer by Mark Averill and Ash Stanley. Since then, the company has worked with a number of nationally and internationally recognised brands on a range of projects, from automotive campaigns to personal branding shoots.

So far this year, it has done work for clients such as Subaru and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, when Bananarama came knocking, Ash said that the firm jumped at the chance to work with the band - not least because he was a fan.

So far, the finished product has been well received, attracting more than 2,500 views on YouTube in just 48 hours.

It has also bagged the ‘Av It team an invite to hang out with the band at a concert later in the year.

Ash said: “I’ve been a massive fan of Bananarama since the 1980s so this project has been a real highlight of my videography career.

“The girls have been amazing to work with and we’re all looking forward to catching up with them at their upcoming concert.”

Initially a trio, Bananarama shot to fame in the 1980s with hits including It Ain’t What You Do (It’s the Way That You Do It), Robert De Niro’s Waiting, Venus and a cover version of The Beatles’ song Help!.

Today, the band is a duo, consisting of Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward. In Stereo, released in April, was the band’s first studio album for a decade and they will be touring this summer.
