An ice-cold first half was too much to overcome as DePaul dropped a 67-53 game to visiting Butler. Kobe Elvis led DePaul with 12 points while Charlie Moore added 11 points.
The Blue Demons shot just .250 (7-28) from the field in the first half and trailed 35-17 at the break.
After a free throw by Nick Ongenda made the score 10-6 with 13:48 in the first half, DePaul (2-5, 0-5 Big East) went cold and the Bulldogs built a double-digit advantage. Elvis scored on a driving layup to make the score 28-12 at the four-minute mark before intermission.
DePaul chipped away in the second half. A free throw by Elvis pulled the Blue Demons to within dozen with just under four minutes left to cut the lead to 12, 60-48, but that would be as close as DePaul would get for the rest of the game.
Butler (5-7, 4-5 Big East) was led by Jair Bolden who led all scorers with 21 points.
