You may think you’re completely safe on a quiet walk in the country but that isn’t necessarily true… Because you never know when a horse might be lurking nearby.
One guy found this out the hard way after taking his dog for a walk in the English countryside only to find himself and his canine companion in a mad dash to escape the terrifying hooves of death. The comedic clip, posted to TikTok, begins as the chase is already well underway. Dan, the guy behind the camera, can be heard saying, “yo I’m being chased by a horse!” The horse in question is charging right for him at an alarming speed.
I have to say, considering he was running for his life, Dan does a great job with the camerawork. The whole thing is a comedic masterpiece, the way he pans down to his little Pomeranian, then back to the beast chasing them, then back to the dog is hilarious. The way he lifts his dog over the fence and then tumbles over himself had viewers in stitches too, “This is too funny , lifting the dog up by the lead dead” wrote one.
The horse just wanted to be friends
Of course, the horse was never really a threat, although they can, and do, bite! But if anything this one looked like he or she just wanted to play and receive some head pats which Dan gladly gave once he was safely on the other side of the fence. “Why’d you chase me?” he asked his new equine friend, the horse had no answer.
Of course, in hindsight, it’s obvious the horse never meant any harm, the bond between humans and horses is strong, they’re even used in the police. If it had really wanted to chase Dan and his dog they likely wouldn’t have gotten away as easily. According to merckvetmanual.com, common signs of aggression in horses include “ears flattened backward, retracted lips, [and] rapid tail movements,” among other things.
As the video clearly shows, this horse displayed none of those signs. Its ears are forward, teeth aren’t bared and it’s hard to see the tail but there doesn’t appear to be any rapid movements.
Viewers on TikTok were quick to make some lighthearted jokes out of the matter, “He only wanted to discuss your cars extended warranty there was no requirement to panic,” wrote one. Another added, “Poor guy just wanted to say hello,” while a third noted the comedy of the horse “chasing people while wearing his blanket.”
Dan clarified that he didn’t really believe his life was in danger but that he didn’t want to risk his small dog accidentally being stomped on by a horse. Better to make friends with it from the other side of the fence where there’s no chance of that.
